Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.                               – Colossians 3:23

Lets look at someone in the Old Testament – Bezalel. He is not someone we hear much about. He’s not someone I learned about in Sunday School as a child. But Bezalel is someone who definitely was a master at everything he did.  Lets look at Exodus 35:30-36:1

30 Then Moses told the people of Israel, “The Lord has specifically chosen Bezalel son of Uri, grandson of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. 31 The Lord has filled Bezalel with the Spirit of God, giving him great wisdom, ability, and expertise in all kinds of crafts. 32 He is a master craftsman, expert in working with gold, silver, and bronze. 33 He is skilled in engraving and mounting gemstones and in carving wood. He is a master at every craft. 34 And the Lord has given both him and Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, the ability to teach their skills to others. 35 The Lord has given them special skills as engravers, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple, and scarlet thread on fine linen cloth, and weavers. They excel as craftsmen and as designers. 36 “The Lord has gifted Bezalel, Oholiab, and the other skilled craftsmen with wisdom and ability to perform any task involved in building the sanctuary. Let them construct and furnish the Tabernacle, just as the Lord has commanded.”

So Bezalel was a master jeweler, engraver, designer, embroider, weaver, wood carver, etc. And, not only was he very, very good, he was also able to teach what he knew. Then as you read Exodus 36 through Exodus 39, almost every paragraph is a discussion about how Bezalel did this or Bezalel did that. Every step of building the tabernacle was performed or overseen by Bezalel.

Can you imagine having that place of honor? Of being able to build the Lord’s house – the special place where the Lord will reside.

It puts me in awe of what skills the Lord gave Bezalel. What has the Lord given you? Are you using it for HIS glory?

Until next time,
